Everyone has a journey in life that helps build who they have become. It can begin from great moments or weak moments, from good times or hard times. My journey to a stronger self began from a weak moment in my life.
As a young girl in high school I fell into a destructive relationship. The struggles I endured at the time are not important. What does matter is the state it left me in. I was emotionally and physically drained, confused and broken. I had lost myself.
The rebuilding took time, but, I made a choice that I would not let that experience define or control me! I was going to make a change, a vow, that I was going to find myself again. Not just myself, I was going to find a stronger self. One that would be confident enough to stand on my own, one that would be strong enough to defend herself, One that would no longer be weak and vulnerable!
That is where the journey to building my stronger self began! I thought that if I could physically make myself stronger, then a stronger person would emerge. I started going to the gym and training harder than I had ever trained before. I did workouts that made me feel strong and put everything into them. All of my energy, tears, fears, and the struggles I knew were ahead. After each workout, I felt stronger, and stronger. It was my release of emotions and my rebuilding method.
What started out as a way of rebuilding myself turned into a passion and lifestyle that has brought me to where I am today in my life and in my career. My passion for fitness and health goes beyond leading people to live a healthier, longer life. For some, I know it can be so much more. It can rebuild you and make you stronger in so many more ways than just the physical improvements that occur.
The changes that happen to us when we make a commitment to becoming a stronger self begin on the inside. It’s the changes that we don’t see happening. I have seen myself and my clients improve their moods, confidence, anxieties, as well as their strength, flexibility, posture and overall quality of life. Fitness goes beyond the external appearances that are so often the reason why we start a program. It can fulfill you in so many more ways.
At this moment, I am a stronger version of myself and I continue to be that each and everyday. My challenge to you is to make the commitment to build your stronger self and start your own journey today!
